Dance For

Dance
For Fun
A Session
Format
(Fall,
Winter, Summer)
Although
we love to dance, we realize that some children/families just can’t
make a school year-long commitment to dance. We want children to be
able to participate in other things too: soccer, cheerleading,
swimming, etc. So we offer many different sessions to choose from so
you can take time off if/when you need to!
3 Shows Each
Year
With
our unique session format, we still like to work towards a goal
while we finish the session: a fun show!
In
class we pay equal attention to stretching and teqhnique every week
as well as our recital dance.
Our shows aren’t Broadway Productions. But at Dance For Fun it is an
opportunity for each child to
shine. Miss
Cindy is usually down in front ensuring the little ones to smile and
dance.
December:
A Holiday Theme Show with Medals given to every
dancer
Santa
comes at the finale giving a present to all children in the audience
too.
May: A theme show
with Trophies given
to every dancer
August:
A small scale Summer Finale
Our
Recitals/Shows
Most
costumes are only $45.
Most
students purchase only 1 costume and dance once
Most
students sit in the audience and enjoy the
show
Our
shows are only 1 1/2 hour long
We
are a Non-Competitive
Studio
This
may not mean much to someone who has never experienced a dance
studio that competes.
Our company dancers are only required to take 1 ballet class
in addition to their company class. Family and schoolwork is always
a priority over dance. Friends dance together, not against each
other.

We
have a Television
monitor
in the Dance Rooms 24/7 so that you can always watch your child’s
progress.
We
carry dance shoes/tights and offer a 20% discount
to our students
Our
instructors are college
educated
or have certifications
in
dance. Many have years
of experience. We believe in continuing
education and attend dance seminars and conferences.
OTHER
DANCE STUDIOS
A School Year-Long
(Sometimes Too Long) Program
Most
dance studios start their program in late August or September and
run until late May or into June. Many studios teach technique the
first half of the year, and start working on the routines
Jan-June. The emphasis
is on the dance routine, often done throughout the entire class
period, with little or no emphasis on stretching or
technique. Students get
bored. The busiest time
of the school year is late May and June. And who wants to be
inside dancing when the weather is so nice? If you choose to start dance
later (ie. in Jan.) you are likely going into a pre-existing class
that started in September.
If you choose to leave early, you are “dropping out” without
being in the recital.
You
can not see what is going on in the dance class regularly. Is
the class age appropriate? Is your child progressing? Is
the teacher on the phone during class? You can't watch and
don't know.
Recital is
in late May or June. $80 and up costumes. Students that take a ballet,
tap, jazz program are required to be in 3 numbers with 3 different
costumes. Lots of
solo's, duets, make for a long show! During the show, the dancers
are in a back room. It
is quite chaotic, and they can not enjoy the show and the
performance of their fellow dance friends. Most recitals are over 3
hours long. |
